The Parked Art Project
Transforming everyday parking into meaningful public experiences
Our Goal
What We’re Doing
In partnership with Gökotta, Preferred Parking Service is activating properties with curated art installations, including:
- Murals
- Sculptures & installations
- Ground art & wayfinding
- Temporary exhibits
Each project contributes to a larger, connected story of Charlotte while maintaining a unique sense of place.
Why Now?
Charlotte’s Uptown is undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation that is driven by a unique convergence of city investment, private development, and nonprofit visioning. There has never been a more strategically aligned moment to activate Uptown through art.
The Strategy
The Parked Art Project was developed with the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan as a guiding framework. By intentionally aligning a framework of Thematic Lenses with both the Plan’s Vision Elements and Guiding Principles, this program reinforces the city’s long-term goals for equitable growth, community identity and inclusive public spaces.
Thematic Lenses: (1) We are Charlotte (2) Charlotte Histories (3) Movement & Motion (4) Nature & Resilience (5) Creative Futures (6) Belonging and Becoming
